Light Reading - Networking the Telecom Industry: "Volo VOIPs Up Cable

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Caerus, Inc., the inventors of the ‘free softswitch’ service offering, the first softswitch and the first SS7 Media Gateway, announced today that its Communications Service Provider subsidiary, Volo Communications, Inc.,will begin a trial immediately to offer consumer and business customers in Florida unlimited calling with popular enhanced features, high speed Internet access, VPN services, and other advanced voice and data services via the local cable access network. The full suite of new products includes:
Unlimited residential local and long distance voice over IP (VoIP) services and enhanced calling features - all for a flat rate of $25 per month
High-Speed Cable Internet Access
Corporate and Residential Video Streaming Services
Virtual Private Networks - for telecommuting employees and remote offices
Storage and Data Recovery Service
Unlike other similar VoIP service offerings that traverse the public Internet, these services are offered over Volo Communications’ private IP backbone network, which is fully optimized for the highest quality business applications, offering MPLS services between switches over one national backbone network rather than 1,000s of Internet subnetworks.
'The Caerus mission is all about empowering service providers and customers of all types to finally reap the inherent benefits of packet communications technologies,' said Shawn Lewis, President & CEO of Caerus, Inc. 'Cable companies, ISPs and other service providers can offer these services to their customers through our Volo Communications subsidiary without having to go to the expense of upfront investments, costly pre-certifications, and lengthy systems integrations.'
